Three minutes later Hamel buried a power-play goal as he collected a rebound from a Danny Bois' shot and tapped it past netminder Karl Goehring. The Senators held the 2-1 lead until Hamel struck again at the 14:09 mark of the middle stanza, as rookies Brian Lee and Alexander Nikulin assisted on marker. The Penguins closed the gap as defenseman Kristopher Letang smashed a one-timer which deflected off a defender and past netminder Jeff Glass. The B-Sens defense held the Penguins in-check the rest of the way, while capped his hat trick with an empty netter with 30 second left in the third. Glass stopped 23 of 25 shots to earn his second victory of the year. The hat trick was the franchise-leading sixth for Hamel, who also had an assist for a four point night.
