Syracuse Crunch News Release
JOAKIM 'MR CONSISTENT' LINDSTROM: Joakim Lindstrom has been a model of consistency so far this season for the Syracuse Crunch. On Sunday in Toronto, Lindstrom extended his point-scoring streak to eight games with an assist on Phillipe Dupuis' goal in the third period. He has now scored at least 1 point in every game this season with the exception of the October 6 game in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He has a total of 10 points (6g, 4a) in 10 games and leads the team in goals. He is on pace to score a career-high 48 goals and 80 points.
Lindstrom, 23, skated in 50 games for Syracuse last season registering 22 goals, 26 assists and 34 penalty minutes. He also appeared in nine games for Columbus last season tallying one goal and four penalty minutes. The native of Skelleftea, Sweden was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2nd round, 41st overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
CRUNCH OFFENSE EXPLODES: The Syracuse Crunch offense exploded on Saturday night at the War Memorial at Oncenter, as they demolished the Rochester Americans 9-2. Andrew Murray lead the scoring attack with two goals on the night and was named first star of the game. The scoring was balanced and spread out as 8 different Crunch players lit the lamp and 16 players had at least one point including a rare assist from goaltender Tomas Popperle. Sixteen players recorded a +1 rating or better. Popperle was strong in net, turning aside 23 of the 25 shots he faced. It was the first time since March 24, 2006 against Binghamton in Utica that the Crunch has put up a nine-spot on the scoreboard. The team record for goals scored in a game is 10 set in the team's inaugural season against Rochester on November 5, 1994.
