Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Nine different B-Sens' players contributed points on Sunday evening as Binghamton edged Rochester by a 5-4 final score. Each team lit the lamp three times in the final period, including the game-winner by winger Greg Mauldin at the 6:41 mark to give the Senators their second victory in as many nights.

David Brine gave Rochester a 1-0 lead midway through the opening period. The B-Sens responded with consecutive power-play markers, the first from rookie defenseman Brian Lee. Danny Bois followed six minutes later with his own as the Senators carried the 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

The second period was a scoreless defensive battle, as Binghamton took just two shots on goal during the middle stanza.

The Senators quickly extended their lead as Josh Hennessy took advantage of a Rochester hooking call and buried his second marker of the season to make it 3-1. Center Justin Mapletoft scooped up a misplayed puck in the Rochester zone just one minute later and went to the backhand to make it a 4-1 game.

Following a Marek Zagrapan power-play goal, the B-Sens immediately responded as Mauldin tallied the game winner at 6:41 of the third period. Mauldin worked up the right boards and smashed a one-timer past David Shantz.

The Amerks continued to battle, netting two more goals before the final horn. The B-Sens improve their record to 4-3-1-0, 9 pts on the year.

Netminder Brian Elliott made 32 saves to earn his first victory of the season. Rookie Brian Lee took home first star honors with two points (1+1=2).
