November 15, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Manchester Monarchs News Release
HOLD DOWN THE FORT
The Monarchs have been road warriors to this point in the season, and have earned a 5-1-1-1 record away from SNHU Arena. The Monarchs have gotten off to a slow start on home ice so far with a 2-2-0-0 record, after earning a combined 41-20-6-5 record on SNHU Arena in the last two seasons.
KEEPING THEM QUIET
The Monarchs have been outshot in only two games this season, and both have come against the Railers at the DCU Center. Last night, the Railers held the Monarchs to their lowest shot total of the season (27), and are now responsible for holding the Monarchs to their three lowest shot totals on the season. The Monarchs are averaging 44.22 shots per game against the rest of their opponents, but only 28.67 against the Railers.
POWER PLAY PROWESS
In their last five games, the Monarchs power play has been clicking, and has converted on nine of its last 30 opportunities (30%). With the man-advantage surge, the Monarchs now sit seventh in the ECHL with a 18.6% conversion rate after beginning the year 4-for-42 (9.5%).
LEAD AFTER 1
Taking a lead into the second period will be important if the Monarchs want to sweep their weekend three-in-three. Entering tonight's game, the Monarchs hold a 4-0-1-0 record when leading after two periods, while the Railers are 0-4-1-0 when trailing after the opening period.
