Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers forced overtime for a fifth consecutive game thanks to a late third period goal Sunday at the Allen Event Center, but the Allen Americans scored with 2.5 seconds left in the extra period to win 4-3.
The first 20 minutes of action saw 26 combined shots, three goals and 42 penalty minutes. Allen jumped out to a 1-0 lead, when Spencer Asuchak capitalized on a 2-on-1 rush. The Oilers tied the game when Evan Richardson buried a loose puck out of a net-mouth scramble. The Americans regained the lead on another transition rush, when Miles Liberati beat Tulsa goaltender Devin Williams from the right circle.
The action slowed a bit in the second period, as the score remained 2-1 after two. Allen narrowly outshot Tulsa 11-10 in the frame, while the Oilers had a 25-22 advantage through 40 minutes.
Vincent Arseneau briefly gave the Americans a two-goal lead early in the third period, but Charlie Sampair answered 12 seconds later to bring the Oilers back to within one. Late in regulation, Conner Bleackley lifted a shot over Allen goalie Stephon Williams with 1:26 to play to force overtime.
The Americans beat the buzzer in the extra period, when Bryan Moore scored on a 2-on-0 rush with 2.5 seconds left to win the game 4-3. The Oilers extended their point streak to seven games with the overtime loss.
