Adirondack enjoying success on lengthy road trip

The Adirondack Thunder continued their 12-game road trip last week, picking up seven of a possible eight points to improve their record to 4-2-1 as the trek enters the back half this week.

Adirondack began last week with a 4-1 win at Quad City on Wednesday. Four different Thunder players recorded goals in the win with James Henry leading the way with two points (1g-1a). Nick Riopel notched the win in goal stopping 22 Mallards' shots.

On Friday, the Thunder opened a two-game series at Kalamazoo with another 4-1 victory. Connor Ingram, who was reassigned to the team by the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday, turned aside 33 of the 34 shots he faced to pick up the win in his ECHL debut. Adirondack's power play keyed the victory, scoring twice in five opportunities.

Adirondack wrapped the two-game set on Saturday with a 5-2 victory, keyed by Austin Orszulak's two-goal game. Henry and Pierre-Luc Mercier each added a goal and an assist while Ingram made 25 saves to record his second straight win.

The Thunder concluded the weekend with a 2-1 shootout loss at Brampton on Sunday. Ty Loney extended his goal streak to five games with the tying goal less than a minute into the final period while Ingram stopped 37 shots in his third straight start.

Loney is tied for fourth in the league with nine goals while his 15 points lead the team and are tied for eighth in the league. Mercier is tied for second among rookies with nine assists and is tied for sixth among first-year players with 11 points.

This week, the Thunder visit Wheeling on Tuesday, Norfolk on Thursday and Manchester on Saturday.

Eastern Conference

Greenville at South Carolina (Saturday)

The in-state rivals are part of a group of four teams separated by just six points at the top opf the South Division standings. South Carolina is 4-0-2 at home and is second place of the division with 16 points, one point ahead of Greenville, which enters the week on a six-game winning streak.

Western Conference

Toledo at Cincinnati (Friday) / Cincinnati at Toledo (Saturday)

The Walleye are atop the Central Division standings with 16 points, and are unbeaten in their last six games (5-0-1) while the Cyclones have gone 6-3-1 to open the season, and are in second place of the division, just three points off the pace.

Divisions

North Division

Kevin Lough collected an assist in each of Adirondack's four games last week. The Thunder have at least one power-play goal in four of their last five games. Adirondack is at Wheeling on Tuesday, Norfolk on Thursday and Manchester on Saturday.

Matt Petgrave is tied for fourth among defensemen with four goals. Brampton is seventh with 34.23 shots per game. The Beast visit Worcester on Tuesday and host Reading on Friday and Sunday.

Kevin Morris has four goals in his last two games. The Monarchs are second in the league with 50 goals. Manchester hosts Reading on Wednesday, Worcester on Friday and Adirondack on Saturday before visiting Worcester on Sunday.

Alex Krushelnyski has 10 points (4g-6a) in his last eight games. Reading has killed 12 of its opponents' last 13 power-play opportunities. The Royals are at Manchester on Wednesday and Brampton on Friday and Sunday.

Will King earned the win in his first pro start on Sunday against Norfolk. The Nailers have scored at least one power-play goal in 10 of their 11 games. Wheeling hosts Adirondack on Tuesday and visits Norfolk on Friday and Saturday.

Patrick McNally leads defensemen with 13 points (6g-7a). Worcester is 5-0-0 when scoring first. The Railers host Brampton on Tuesday, visit Manchester on Friday and host the Monarchs on Sunday.

South Division

Phil Lane is on an eight-game point streak (8g-6a). The Gladiators last three wins have all come in overtime. Atlanta travels to Greenville on Wednesday and hosts Orlando on Thursday and South Carolina on Sunday.

Joe Cox is tied for second among rookies with two game-winning goals. The Everblades are 7-0-0 when scoring first. Florida visits Jacksonville on Friday and hosts the Icemen on Saturday.

Sergey Zborovskiy is tied for first among rookie defensemen with nine points (4g-5a). Greenville's six-game winning streak is tied for the longest in the league this season. The Swamp Rabbits host Atlanta on Wednesday and Orlando on Friday and Sunday while visiting South Carolina on Saturday.

Dajon Mingo played in his 100th career ECHL game on Friday at Manchester. The Icemen are fifth on the penalty kill at 86.6 percent (39-for-44). Jacksonville hosts South Carolina on Tuesday and Florida on Friday before visiting the Everblades on Saturday.

Brady Vail is on a seven-game point streak (4g-10a). Norfolk is 2-0-1 when leading after two periods. The Admirals host Adirondack on Thursday and Wheeling on Friday and Saturday.

Chris Crane leads Orlando with four goals. The Solar Bears are tied for fifth with 28.80 shots-against per game. Orlando is at Atlanta on Thursday and Greenville on Friday and Sunday.

Robbie Baillargeon has eight assists in his first eight pro games. South Carolina is third with 2.40 goals-against per game. The Stingrays are at Jacksonville on Tuesday, host Greenville on Saturday and travel to Atlanta on Sunday.

Central Division

Justin Danforth notched his first professional hat trick on Friday at Florida. The Cyclones are tied for fourth with 2.60 goals-against per game. Cincinnati hosts Quad City on Tuesday and Toledo on Friday and visits the Walleye on Saturday.

Jason Binkley is tied for fifth among defensemen with 10 points (2g-8a). Fort Wayne is 3-0-0 when leading after one period. The Komets visit Toledo on Thursday and host Kansas City on Friday and Tulsa on Sunday.

Cam Reid leads Indy with 10 points (2g-8a). The Fuel open a six-game home stand this week. Indy hosts Toledo on Tuesday, Kalamazoo on Friday and Tulsa on Saturday.

Josh Pitt has scored a goal in four of his last six games. Kalamazoo had a season-low four penalty minutes on Saturday against Adirondack. The K-Wings are at Indy on Friday.

Matt Robertson leads Kansas City with seven goals and 12 points. The Mavericks are the league's sixth-least penalized team with 12.90 penalty minutes per game. Kansas City hosts Tulsa on Tuesday and visits Wichita on Wednesday, Fort Wayne on Friday and Quad City on Saturday and Sunday.

Ivan Kulbakov has started eight straight games in goal. Quad City is 4-0-0 in games decided beyond regulation. The Mallards are at Cincinnati on Tuesday and host Tulsa on Friday and Kansas City on Saturday and Sunday.

Mike Borkowski notched his first professional hat trick on Saturday against Wheeling. The Walleye have outscored their opponents 23-15 during their six-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1). Toledo visits Indy on Tuesday, hosts Fort Wayne on Thursday, travels to Cincinnati on Friday and hosts the Cyclones on Saturday.

Mountain Division

Stephon Williams is fifth with a .932 save percentage. Allen is sixth with 34.71 shots per game. The Americans are at Wichita on Friday and Saturday.

J.C. Beaudin is tied for second among rookies with nine assists. The Eagles are tied for the league lead with five shorthanded goals. Colorado visits Utah on Friday and Saturday.

Brady Brassart is on a seven-game point streak, tying his career high (3g-6a). Idaho is the only team in the league in the top five for shots per game and shots-against per game. The Steelheads are at Rapid City on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Kenton Miller is on a five-game point streak (4g-2a). The Rush have killed 35 consecutive opponent power plays. Rapid City hosts Idaho on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Evan Richardson is tied for sixth among rookies with 11 points (4g-7a). Tulsa has played five consecutive overtime games (2-0-3). The Oilers are at Kansas City on Tuesday, Quad City on Friday, Indy on Saturday and Fort Wayne on Sunday.

Taylor Richart is tied for first among defensemen with six goals. The Grizzlies are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games. Utah hosts Colorado on Friday and Saturday.

Greg Chase has seven points (4g-3a) in five games with the Thunder. Wichita has scored a league-leading 16 goals in the first period. The Thunder host Kansas City on Wednesday and Allen on Saturday and Sunday.
