Brampton Beast News Release
BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - Chris Leveille scored shootout winner and Andrew D'Agostini made 43 saves as the Brampton Beast defeated the Adirondack Thunder 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Brampton Beast welcomed the Adirondack Thunder to the Powerade Centre for a very special Remembrance Day game.
The Beast were on the attack for much of the first and pounded 17 shots on Thunder goaltender Connor Ingram.
Brampton got on the board first off a howitzer from defenseman Jordan Henry. With the Beast on the power play, Scott Jacklin was able to send the puck into the slot where Henry was waiting.
The big defender threw his weight behind the shot and ripped a bullet through the pads of Ingram to give Brampton a 1-0 lead at 12:34 of the first.
The second period belonged to the Thunder who came out guns blazing. They had some excellent chances and hit four posts as the period wore on.
Andrew D'Agostini, was cool under pressure and kept the Thunder off the scoreboard for the period, smothered the rest of the shots.
One of the best chances of the second came from Reggie Traccitto. Alex Foster sent a gorgeous saucer pass to the streaking defenseman who was in alone on a breakaway. Only the tip of the right pad of Ingram robbed the Beast of a 2-0 lead.
Heading into the third the Beast had the edge in shots 28-24 and in goals by a score of 1-0.
The third period began with the Beast on the penalty kill. Adirondack moved the puck well and tied the game on a shot through traffic that was touched by Ty Loney less than a minute into the third.
Both teams battled hard and peppered each other with chances as the period wound down. The third would end in a 1-1 tie and the game would be sent to overtime.
The extra frame saw both teams trade scoring chance after scoring chance but neither D'Agostini or Ingram were willing to give an inch.
The game came down to a shootout and the winning goal was a beautiful placed wrsit shot off the blade of Chris Leveille. The speedy forward came right down main street and beat Ingram low under the arm to secure the win for Brampton.
Notes: Molson Three Stars 3) Henry (BRAM) 2) Ingram (ADR) 1) D'Agostini (BRAM). Brampton finished the game one-for-three on the power play while Adirondack ended up at one-for-seven. The Beast are now on a two-game winning streak. Brampton will play their next game Tuesday morning at 10 AM and will take on the Worchester Railers
