Tulsa Oilers News Release
INDEPENDENCE, MO - Kansas City Mavericks' forward Shawn Pauly sparked his team to a 5-2 win over the Tulsa Oilers with a hat-trick Tuesday at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
Kansas City scored on two of four power plays in the opening period, on their way to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes. Pauly scored the first two Mavericks goals, before Bryce Aneloski capitalized on a 5-on-3 man advantage. Tulsa was unsuccessful on a lone power play opportunity in the frame.
The Oilers outshot the Mavericks 17-4 in the second period, but the deficit remained the same. Kansas City briefly bumped its lead up to 4-0 after Hunter Smith buried a rebound in front of the Tulsa net. Joey Sides put the Oilers on the board when he deflected a shot from the point on a Tulsa power play.
Tulsa cut Kansas City's lead to 4-2, when Alexandre Ranger scored from low in the slot early in the third period, but Pauly completed his hat-trick with a late goal to seal the 5-2 Mavericks win.
Tulsa heads to the Quad Cities Friday night to face the Mallards at 7:05pm at the TaxSlayer Center. Catch all the action on The Sports Animal Radio Network (99.9FM/1550AM), www.tulsaoilers.com or ECHL.TV.
