Manchester Monarchs News Release
HEADING TO ELMIRA
Saturday's game marks the first of six games the Monarchs will play at First Arena this season. The Monarchs will make their remaining visits to Elmira, N.Y., Dec. 11, Jan. 8-9 and Mar. 18-19. The Jackals are East Division rivals for the Monarchs, and currently sit tied for second place (4 pts.) in the division with the Reading Royals.
ROOKIE SCORING
Five of the six goals the Monarchs have scored this season have come off the sticks of rookies, with Zac Larazza leading the way with two goals. Larazza (1a), Josh Brown (1g), Matt Leitner (1g) and Derek Arnold (1g) each scored their first professional points in their first career games, with Arnold recording the game-winning-goal in the lone Monarchs victory.
SPECIAL TEAMS SHORTAGE
While only generating the 5th fewest (12) power play chances early into the season, the Monarchs are the only team in the ECHL without a power-play goal. On the defensive side, the Monarchs are 3rd from the bottom in terms of penalty killing percentage in the league, coming in at 71.4 %.
GETTING SOME REST
The Monarchs have played the second fewest games in the ECHL, playing in only three contests thus far, and the schedule remains light for the team after tonight, as they don't play again until a three-game-weekend series with the Brampton Beast, Nov. 6-9.
