Colorado Eagles News Release

(Witchita, KS) - The Colorado Eagles fell to the Wichita Thunder 2-1 at the Intrust Bank Arena on Saturday afternoon in the final game of a two-game set.

Colorado got off to a hot start in the first period, throwing a season-high 18 shots on net in the opening frame. Forward Trent Daavettila found the back of the net first from between the circles, beating Wichita goaltender Grant Rollheiser on the short-side post to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead with 14:10 remaining in the period. Despite being heavily outshot in the period 18-4, the Thunder would take advantage of an Eagles turnover on the blueline to tie the score at 1-1 on a backhander from Thunder forward Peter Sakaris.

Wichita added an early goal in the second period to get their first lead of the game, 2-1 as Sakaris drove the net and smacked home a rebound in the low-slot with 16:30 remaining. After two periods, the Eagles had outshot the Thunder 25-11.

Despite the Eagles continued pressure on the Thunder in the third, Wichita would hold Colorado off the board to secure the win 2-1.

The Eagles return home to host the Tulsa Oilers next Friday, November 6th.
