Last Night

Alexis Loiseau- who had scored twice in regulation- and Steven Whitney scored shootout goals as the host Norfolk Admirals survived for a 3-2 shootout win after the Mallards rallied with goals late in the third period from Olivier Archambault and Guillaume Gelinas but had to settle for one point.

Late Show

Archambault scored the Mallards' first goal last night at 14:59 of the third period. Gelinas provided the tying goal with exactly one minute left in regulation.

Shootout

The Mallards are now 0-2 in shootouts. They dropped their first shootout 5-4 October 17 in Wichita.

Slow Starts

The Mallards fell behind 2-0 last night after going behind 3-0 in a 5-2 loss Tuesday night at Missouri.

First Blood

The Mallards last night dropped to 0-2-2 when giving up the game's first goal. They are 3-0-0 when scoring first.

Rough Road

The Mallards have so far gone 0-1-1 on the three-game road trip that ends tonight.

Double Down

Archambault not only scored his first Mallard goal last night but also assisted Gelinas and has now recorded two points in three of his four games since joining the Mallards from the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild last week. He has also now totaled six points (one goal and five assists) to take over the team point-scoring lead.

Helping Hand

Mike Monfredo last night picked up his fifth assist to remain tied with Archambault for the team lead.

Marathon

After tonight's game the Mallards will return to the Quad Cities at the end of a three-game road trip that will have seen them travel 2,555 miles from Moline to Independence to Norfolk to Wheeling and finally back home.

Between the Pipes

Steve Michalek made a season high 37 saves last night.

Shooting Gallery

The Mallards set a season high by pumping 39 shots at former Mallard goaltender Ty Rimmer last night.

Special Teams

Archambault converted the Mallards' third and final power play last night. The Mallards have scored on four of their last nine advantages. They are seventh in the ECHL on the power play (20.7 percent). The Mallards survived all three Norfolk power plays last night and rank twelfth in the league in penalty killing (85.7 percent).

Head to Head

Tonight's game is the first ever meeting between the Mallards and Nailers and their only clash this season.
