Last Night Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (2-1-0-0) fell to the Kalamazoo Wings, 3-1, on Friday night in Kalamazoo. Defenseman Garrett Noonan scored the lone goal for the Cyclones, who drop their first game of the season. The Cyclones outshot Kalamazoo, 34-27, on the night, while the power play was held scoreless on all four of its opportunities.

Previewing Ft. Wayne: The Komets dropped their first of the season on Friday night, falling 4-2 to the Indy Fuel. Defensemen Drew Daniels and Jordan Southorn scored the goals for Ft. Wayne, while netminder Spencer Martin stopped 24-of-28 in the loss. The Komets are led by forward Shawn Szydlowski, who has accounted for a pair of goals and seven assists for nine points. Team goals leader Trevor Cheek is right behind him with five goals and two assists. Goaltender Pat Nagle is a perfect 3-0-0 on the season, with a 2.93 goals-against average, and a .893 save percentage.

Inside the Series: The Cyclones were 1-1-1-4 last season against the Komets. These two teams have met a total of 24 times, with Cincinnati holding a 9-7-3-5 all-time in the series.

Hitting the Road: This weekend marks the first and second road games for the Cyclones this season. Last season, Cincinnati compiled a 14-17-0-5 record away from U.S. Bank Arena.

Defensively Offensive: Cincinnati's defensive corps have been finding the scoresheet early in the season. Cyclones defenseman Garrett Noonan scored his second goal in as many games in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Kalamazoo Wings, while defenseman Steve Weinstein potted his first professional goal in last Saturday's win over this Wings. Overall, the Cincinnati blueline has been responsible for three goals and an assist through the first three games of the season.

Shaw Makes NHL Debut: Former Cincinnati Cyclones forward Logan Shaw made his National Hockey League (NHL) debut for the Florida Panthers on Friday night. The 6'3", 204 pound winger logged 10:49 of ice time and dished out three hits in Florida's 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins. Shaw skated in 20 games for the Cyclones in November and December of the 2013-2014 season, accounting for eight goals and 10 assists, for 18 total points. He was also an instrumental piece in Cincinnati's run to the Kelly Cup Finals in 2014, accounting for five goals and an assist in 24 playoff games. Shaw was drafted by the Panthers in the third round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Road Ahead: After just four games in the month of October, the Cyclones have a busy stretch ahead of them, as they will play 13 games in the month of November, with 10 of those games coming on back-to-back days.

Froese Makes NHL Debut: Former Cincinnati Cyclone forward Byron Froese (Pronounced Frayze) made his National Hockey League (NHL) debut last Saturday night for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Winkler, MAN, native logged 12:50 of ice time in Toronto's 5-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Froese spent parts of the last two seasons with the Cyclones, accounting for 24 points (8g, 16a) in 17 games last season, and 21 points (11g, 10a) in 25 games in 2013-2014. Froese also had a stellar post season in 2013-2014, totaling eight goals and 17 assists in 23 playoff games, helping lead the Cyclones to Game 6 of the 2014 Kelly Cup Finals. He is a 2009 NHL Draft selection of the Chicago Blackhawks.

First for the Kid: Rookie defenseman Steve Weinstein scored his first professional goal in last Saturday's 4-1 win over Kalamazoo. His power play tally came in just his fifth pro hockey game, dating back to last season when he made his pro debut with the AHL's Springfield Falcons at the conclusion of his NCAA career. Weinstein is the second Cyclone to record his first pro goal this season, joining forward Joe Wilson who notched his first in the 5-1 win on October 17.

AHL Influence: The Cyclones currently boast eight players who have been assigned to the team by American Hockey League (AHL) teams. Defensemen Jonathan Diaby and Joe Pendenza, and forwards Jaynen Rissling and Eric Robinson, along with goaltender Brandon Whitney were assigned by the Milwaukee Admirals; Cincinnati's AHL affiliate. Additionally, forwards Seth Ambroz and Peter Quenneville and goaltender Brad Thiessen were sent to Cincinnati from the Lake Erie Monsters, primary affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
