
Solar Bears Hold off Royals 5-2 for First Road Win

READING, Pa . - The Orlando Solar Bears (4-1-1-0), proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, completed their three-game road trip with a 5-2 victory over the Reading Royals (3-3-0-0) in front of a crowd of 2,916 on Saturday night at Santander Arena.
Brett Findlay tallied the game's first goal at 12:30 of the first period, beating Martin Ouellette.
Orlando added to its lead in the second period with a power-play goal from Johnny McInnis at 8:09, and a shorthanded tally by Brady Vail at 16:34.
Reading would attempt a comeback in the third period with goals from Joe Rehkamp at 1:34 and a power-play goal from Cam Reid at 12:29.
Vail provided the Solar Bears with some breathing room as he found the back of the net again at 15:43, and Lindsay Sparks would seal the game with an empty-net goal at 18:43.
Ryan Massa earned the win for Orlando with 34 stops on 36 shots; Ouellette took the loss with 11 saves on 15 shots against.
