
Monarchs Announce October Investing In Our Youth Winners

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have donated $1,000 scholarships to the Peter Woodbury School for funds to create a Digital Storytelling Program and to Parker-Varney School to purchase snowshoeing equipment for their physical education classes as part of their Investing In Our Youth grant program, the team announced on Tuesday. Through the program, the Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Monarchs, is able to award two different $1,000 scholarships each month. One of the scholarships goes to a deserving youth sports team. The other scholarship goes to a deserving school organization.
The Monarchs are currently taking applications for the program. Athletic and educational organizations are encouraged to apply. The Peter Woodbury School will use the grant money to create a Digital Storytelling Program for six classrooms. This new program will give students the ability to write stories and illustrate them with photos and drawings, and then personalize them with narration and music.
The Parker-Varney School is introducing the sport of Snowshoeing to improve the children's health by providing an outdoor activity that is fun, practical and challenging for students of all athletic abilities and physical conditions. Snowshoeing will help to build and maintain strong bones, muscles and joints; weight control and build self-esteem.
Let the holiday shopping begin! The Monarchs Pro Shop will have special holiday hours on Friday, November 25 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Manchester heads to Portland to face the Pirates for the first time this season on Wednesday, November 23 at 7:05 p.m. A post-Thanksgiving match-up between the Monarchs and the Hartford Wolf Pack is scheduled for Friday, November 25 at 7:35 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arean.
