Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Omaha, NE - Despite out-shooting Omaha by a margin of 37-18, the Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated 4-1 by the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights on Tuesday night at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Hamilton allowed a season-low 18 shots on goal in the game, including only three in the third period. The loss was the fourth straight for the Bulldogs, whose record now stands at 7-11-0-1.
Omaha scored the first goal of the game at 11:28 of the first period when Brantt Myhres netted his third marker of the season. Cam Cunning, who was positioned behind the Bulldogs' goal line, centered the puck and Myhres fired a shot from in close that beat Hamilton netminder Cristobal Huet.
Bulldogs forward Francis Lemieux tied the game at the 15:57 mark of the second period when he scored his third goal of the season with Hamilton on the power play. Lemieux was stationed at the side of the Knights' crease and one-timed Corey Locke's pass behind Omaha goaltender Brent Krahn.
Lemieux's marker was the Bulldogs' first goal in 145 minutes, 32 seconds, and snapped an 0 for 27 drought with the man-advantage.
Mark Giordano gave the Knights a 2-1 lead with 33 seconds remaining in the middle frame when he beat Huet with a shot from the high slot with Omaha on the power play.
Knights defenseman Justin Taylor gave Omaha a two goal lead at 12:25 of the third period when he snapped a shot past Huet. Omaha forward Carsen Germyn rounded out the scoring when he potted his eleventh marker of the season on a 2-on-1 with 39 seconds left in the game.
