Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves will honor the memory of former left wing Tim Breslin at the Allstate Arena on Sat., Dec. 3, when they host the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights at 7 p.m.

Breslin, who was one of the first three players signed by the Wolves, passed away on Feb. 9 due to complications from appendiceal cancer, which is a malignancy of the appendix. He is survived by his wife Jami and three children: Shane, Paige and Chase.

The Addison native and Driscoll Catholic High School graduate played five seasons with the team, registering 37 goals; 82 assists; 119 points and 298 penalty minutes in 330 games from 1994 to 1999 and won the 1998 Turner Cup Championship with the Wolves.

An on-ice pre-game ceremony will include a video tribute and introduction of the new Tim Breslin Unsung Hero Award. Next season, the Wolves coaching staff will nominate four players for the award, with fans getting the final vote to decide the winner at the end of the year.

The Wolves will honor Breslin's dedication to the community with additional fundraising for Tim Breslin Scholarships, supported by College Illinois. The scholarships are available to students in sixth grade and up. Breslin was the recipient of the I. John Snider Trophy as the International Hockey League's Man of the Year following the 1996-97 season for his outstanding community service.

The Wolves will also recognize Breslin by hanging a banner in the Allstate Arena rafters.

Fans who purchase tickets through the team's exclusive "Tim Breslin Night" offer by calling 1-800-THE-WOLVES or by logging on chicagowolves.com, will receive a commemorative, limited-edition patch.

Last summer, the Chicago Wolves alumni and the Chicago Blackhawks alumni squared off in "The Breslin Cup" at the Allstate Arena. The landmark event, witnessed by over 10,000 fans, showcased legendary Chicago hockey players to benefit the Tim Breslin Family Trust.
