Gherson joins Pack

Hartford, November 22, 2005: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager/head coach Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack have signed goaltender Robert Gherson to a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement and fellow backstop Chris Holt has been reassigned to the Wolf Pack's ECHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. Also, the parent New York Rangers have recalled defenseman Dale Purinton from the Wolf Pack, and blueliner Bryce Lampman suffered a dislocated left shoulder in Sunday's game at Portland and will be sidelined from two to four weeks.

Gherson, 22, has played one game this season with the AHL's Manitoba Moose, notching a 5-1 win in his AHL debut November 5th at San Antonio (20 saves). The second-year pro comes to the Wolf Pack from the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL, where he has compiled a 4-1-0 record, with a 2.52 goals-against average and a 92.4% save percentage in six games-played. Gherson attended the Wolf Pack's training camp this year and made one preseason appearance, sharing a shutout with Bernd Bruckler against Providence September 27th in Kingston, RI. Gherson made 14 saves in 29:59 of work that night in an 8-0 win.

Holt was 2-2-1 in seven appearances with the Wolf Pack, with a 4.49 GAA and an 87.6% save percentage. Lampman has suited up for 11 Pack games and has chipped in two goals and four assists for six points, with 16 penalty minutes. He has also played in one NHL game for the parent New York Rangers (two penalty minutes). Purinton has skated in seven matches for the Wolf Pack, amassing one goal and three assists for four points along with 19 minutes in penalties.

The Wolf Pack resume play tomorrow night, Wednesday, November 23rd, at the Hartford Civic Center at 7:00 PM vs. the Albany River Rats. Following that game, selected Wolf Pack players will conduct a free autograph session in Center Court of the Civic Center Mall. Then, after a Friday-night visit to Manchester (7:35), the Pack are back on home ice Saturday evening against Providence (7:00). At that game, the first 5,000 fans receive a Ken Gernander bobblehead.
