
Minnesota Recalls Haula, Iowa Assigns Curry to Orlando

Des Moines, IA - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Friday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled forward Erik Haula from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team also announced today forward Mike Rupp has been designated non-roster status and will leave the team for personal reasons. Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill also announced the AHL Club has assigned goalie John Curry to the Orlando Solar Bears, Iowa's ECHL affiliate.
Haula, 22 (3/23/91), is tied second on Iowa with 10 points (4-610) in 18 games this season. The 5-foot-11, 192-pound forward is expected to make his NHL debut on Friday as the Minnesota hosts Colorado at 5 p.m. CT on FOX Sports North and KFAN 100.3 FM. He totaled two assists in six games with Houston (AHL) last season and two points (1-12) in five playoff contests. The native of Pori, Finland also totaled 124 points (42-82124) in 114 games during three seasons at the University of Minnesota (2010-13). Haula was selected by the Wild in the seventh round (182nd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Curry made his Iowa debut last Sunday, stopping 17 of 19 in a 2-1 loss to Abbotsford. He returns to Orlando, where he won four straight games prior to his AHL recall. The 29-year old was 6-1-0 over seven appearances, while posting a 2.52 GAA and a .905 SV% with the Solar Bears. Over the course of his career, the seventh-year pro has made 186 appearances in the AHL for Wilkes-Barre Scranton, Houston and Iowa. Curry is 109-61-7 with a 2.47 GAA and a .907 SV% in his AHL career. He has also made an appearance in four NHL games (all Pittsburgh), going 2-2-0 with a 3.79 GAA and a .867 DV %.
The Wild continues a six-game road trip on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in San Antonio. After two games at Texas and Abbotsford, the team returns home on Sunday, Dec. 15 to host Rockford at 4:05 p.m. For Sunday's game, the team will hold its first Teddy Bear Toss, where fans are encouraged to throw a stuffed animal on the ice for charity. Fans will be permitted to through Teddy Bears on the ice after the Wild score its first goal of the night. Fans may purchase the Subway Family Four Pack for the game, which features four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and Subway coupons starting at $44.
