
Amerks Sign Defenseman Nick Tuzzolino to PTO

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed defenseman Nick Tuzzolino to a professional tryout contract. In addition, forward Colin Jacobs has been assigned to the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.
Tuzzolino, a 27-year-old native of Buffalo, has appeared in 13 ECHL games with the Fort Wayne Komets this season, recording seven points (1+6) and 46 penalty minutes. In 296 career ECHL games with Alaska, Wheeling, Utah and Fort Wayne, Tuzzolino has registered 153 points (35+118) and 743 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Tuzzolino has also played in 50 career American Hockey League games with Portland, Lake Erie and Abbotsford, recording nine points (5+4) and 69 penalty minutes. He was originally selected by the New York Islanders in the seventh round (196th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Jacobs, 20, has recorded one assist and 13 penalty minutes in 13 games with the Amerks this season. In 24 career AHL games with Rochester, Jacobs has collected four points (1+3) and 13 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 204-pound native of Coppel, Texas, was originally selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the fourth round (107th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
