Utica Comets News Release
Despite a busy schedule of on-ice practices and off-ice workouts during the week, along with games on Friday and Saturday, the Utica Comets were incredibly eager to get into the community in between.ÃâàComets players were all around the Mohawk Valley with their visits ranging from Faxton Saint Luke's Healthcare to Bradley Elementary School in New Hartford.
On Monday November 18th, six Utica Comets players visited Saint Luke's Healthcare in Utica where they spent time both with children in the pediatric ward and with senior citizens at the Saint Luke's Home.ÃâàAlex Biega, Brandon DeFazio, Kellan Lain, David Marshall, Patrick Mullen and Yann Sauve were each on hand following Monday morning's practice to visit with residents of Saint Luke's.ÃâàThe Comets were proud to sign autographs for patients during their stay, which included a special visit to a huge Comets fan who was confined to her bed.
The Comets were at the Sangertown Square Mall on Wednesday as Peter Andersson, Joacim Eriksson, Nicklas Jensen and Henrik Tommernes were on hand for a visit with Santa Claus. A large turnout came out to support the Comets who were on hand to take part in the mall's early Christmas season celebrations.
"It's always good to come out here and meet the fans, it's good for us," Comets winger Nicklas Jensen said in an interview with WKTV. Ãâà"We want them to support us but we also want to support them so it's a great whole experience."
The players and Saint Nick were met with lots of children and young adults who came excited that the Comets were out at the mall. The young fans were treated to pictures with the Comets and Saint Nick and they received autographs from some of their favorite Utica players.
The Comets were at Bradley Elementary School in New Hartford on Thursday, as Alex Friesen and Frankie Corrado visited Ms. McDonald's sixth grade class. The players participated in gym class with the students where they showed the youngsters proper activity habits and form as the kids did pull ups and agility drills, amongst other physical fitness activities.
The players then showed the kids their craft of choice as they brought some hockey moves to the gym floor. Frankie worked a passing drill and showed student the great puck movement that makes him an elite blueliner while Alex taught the kids the art of shooting and scoring that he displays as a forward.ÃâàThe players then gave each of their new fans an autograph before they departed a group of happy and active students.
Look for the Utica Comets next week following the Thanksgiving holiday, as they will be at the Family Fun Factory in Washington Mills.ÃâàPeter Andersson, Henrik Tommernes, Darren Archibald and Alex Friesen will be in attendance for a night of fun with children of the Mohawk Valley.ÃâàMembers of the Munchkin Comets Kids Club will receive a two-dollar discount off of the door price.
