Memphis Drops Tuesday Night Series Opener at Nashville

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds began a six-game road trip with a 6-2 loss at the Nashville Sounds at First Horizon Park on Tuesday night.

Right-handed pitcher Gordon Graceffo (4-3) tossed 4.2 innings in the loss. Graceffo allowed four runs on five hits, walked four and struck out six batters. The four walks are tied for his second-most allowed in a start this year.

Designated hitter Irving Lopez clubbed his second Triple-A home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning. Lopez finished the night 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI. Center fielder Matt Koperniak drove home the lone other Memphis run in with a single in the fifth. In the loss, Memphis registered just four hits.

The Redbirds (64-69) return to AutoZone Park on Tuesday, Sept. 19 to begin the final homestand of the season at 6:45p.m. CDT against the Charlotte Knights.
