McKenzie returns to Jackals

The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that right wing Jim McKenzie has been reassigned to the Jackals by the Ottawa (NHL) Senators from their American Hockey League affiliate in Binghamton. McKenzie is scheduled to meet Elmira in Reading for tonight's 6:35 p.m. contest against the Royals.

McKenzie, a fifth round (141st overall) pick by Ottawa in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, appeared in eight games with Binghamton this season with no points, 13 PIM and was a -3. In 20 contests with the Jackals, McKenzie has scored twice and totaled four points with 13 PIM with a -2 rating.

McKenzie, a rookie out of Michigan State (Central Collegiate Hockey Association), had been with Binghamton since December 18th. While with Elmira, he picked up his first professional point October 31st with an assist in a 5-2 win over Cincinnati. McKenzie followed up with his first goal as a pro on November 2nd, also against Cincinnati, in a 5-1 loss.

The Jackals continue their four-game road trip with a visit to Reading tonight (6:35 p.m.). The trip ends with a pair of weekend tilts in Dayton Friday and Saturday against the Bombers (face-off 7 p.m. both nights). The Jackals next home games are Friday, January 11th, against the Johnstown Chiefs and Saturday, January 12th, versus the North Division-leading Cincinnati Cyclones.
