Elmira Jackals News Release

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that goaltender Maxime Joyal has been released by the club. Joyal had been serving in the capacity of the team's emergency back-up since a November 29th ankle injury to Dan LaCosta knocked him out of the Jackals line-up.

Joyal appeared in two games, playing a total of eight minutes. He allowed one goal on five shots in finishing with an .800 save percentage and a 7.68 goals against average. Joyal's availability to the Jackals ended as he departed for Canada following the club's 5-2 win in Johnstown New Year's Eve to resume his college studies.

For tonight's game in Reading, the Jackals have signed Adam Horvath as the emergency back-up to Joel Martin. Martin will be making his 14th consecutive start in net in tonight's 6:35 face-off against the Royals.

Horvath, a 28-year old native of Coplay, PA, served in an emergency back-up capacity for three games last year with Trenton and Reading. He played collegiately at Division III Buffalo State from 2001 - 2005, appearing in 33 games over four seasons with a record of 5-15-1.
