
Aces Filion Named In Glas Co, Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Alaska center Olivier
Filion is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 24-30.
The 5-foot-10 and 195-pound Filion had four goals, including two on the
power play, and five points to help the Aces go 1-0-1 and remain in second
place in the West Division.
After scoring a season-high three points, including tying his season best
with two goals, in a 5-4 shootout loss to Utah on Dec. 28, the 25 year old
had two goals in a 7-4 win against the Grizzlies on Dec. 29. His two
power-play goals doubled his season total to four power-play goals which is
second on the team.
The Montreal, Quebec native is fourth on the team with 11 goals and has 20
points (11g-9a) and 16 penalty minutes in 26 games with Alaska. He led the
Aces in 2006-07 with 14 power-play goals and 29 goals while ranking second
on the team with 68 points in 72 regular season games, and had 12 points
(6g-6a) and 12 penalty minutes in 15 Kelly Cup Playoff games. In his fourth
season with Alaska, Filion has 177 points (59g-118a) and 226 penalty
minutes in 235 regular season games and 37 points (14g-23a) and 46 penalty
minutes in 51 Kelly Cup Playoff games.
Filion played in the United Hockey League as a rookie in 2003-04 and had 32
points and 86 penalty minutes in 66 games for Richmond. He played four
seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he had 305 points
(96g-209a) and 239 penalty minutes in 276 regular season games and 37
points (9g-28a) and 28 penalty minutes in 44 playoff games for
Acadie-Bathurst from 1999-2003. He scored 104 points in each of his last
two seasons, registering a career-high 75 assists in 2001-02 and a
career-best 36 goals in 2002-03.

Filion a case of pucks will be donated to Anchorage youth hockey
organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the
ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas
Co has donated more than 18,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in
ECHL cities.
