McDonald Impresses in Net But Heat Fall in Preseason Opener
September 29, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Stockton Heat News Release
BAKERSFIELD, CALIF. - Goalie Mason McDonald made the most of his opportunity to start the game, stopping all 17 shots he faced in his 33:26 of work, but it was three, third period goals by the Condors that gave Bakersfield the 3-1 win in the preseason opener. The Heat struck first in the preseason thanks to defenseman Cliff Watson but it was Bakersfield who controlled much of the first two periods. After McDonald was taken out of the game and replaced by Nick Schneider (per the plan to split the game between the two netminders), the Condors were able to capitalize with two goals in the first 4:48 and finished the game off with an empty net goal for the 3-1 win. Apart from McDonald, the other key positive was the Heat penalty kill, who went a perfect 6-6 on the evening, though the Heat only had one power play chance which they were unable to capitalize on. The Heat finish off the preseason with a rematch tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.! Come join the fun, which begins at 2:00 p.m. with live music from Mattea Overstreet, a Q&A in the Club with SMG and Heat staff answering questions from fans regarding changes in arena, purchase some of the new concession options and stay after the game for a Meet and Greet with the entire team! Tickets to the preseason game are just $10, but all Full-Season Heat365 Members received two tickets per Membership and Half and Quarter-Season Heat365 Members receive one ticket per Membership. Fans in need of tickets can purchase on Ticketmaster.com or at the Stockton Arena Ticket Office. Groups of 10 or more can call/text 209-373-1500 for a special group rate of $5 per ticket. All tickets to the Heat's home preseason game are general admission.
