Game Day Build-Up: Senators vs. Rocket, September 29
September 29, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release
The set-up
Belleville and Laval will do battle for the second and final time this preseason before they open their 2018-19 regular season next week.
The two North Division rivals, who will meet 12 times during the regular season, demonstrated many of their new signings and acquisitions in Friday's game as players will have one final opportunity to make a claim for spot on the final roster.
Roster notes
Belleville received some significant help Friday as defenceman Christian Wolanin and forward Filip Chlapik were reassigned to the Sens from Ottawa.
In other news, the Sens released Anthony Beauregard and Austin McEneny from their tryouts with the team before Friday's game.
Head coach Troy Mann has already stated that Filip Gustavsson will play the full 60 minutes tonight with Jake Paterson backing him up. Marcus Hogberg played the entire game Friday between the pipes.
Some players who played Friday night will be in the line-up once again while others who sat out Saturday will get some ice time before the season-opener next Saturday.
Previous history
The Senators dominated the Rocket Friday as they claimed a 5-0 victory over their Canadian rivals as Jim O'Brien scored twice and Hogberg made 18 saves for the shutout. In the regular season last year, Belleville went 5-6-1 against the Rocket.
Who to watch
Nick Paul notched a goal and a helper during Friday's victory and will look to build on that performance after playing alongside rookies Drake Batherson and Logan Brown on what was a potent line last night.
Where to watch
Friday's game starts at 7pm but will be unavailable to watch on AHLTV. Tickets for tonight's game are available.
The radio broadcast on CJBQ 800 begins at 6:50pm with Jack Miller on the call and David Foot on colour.
