Kansas City Mavericks News Release
ALLEN, TX - The Missouri Mavericks fell 4-1 to the Allen Americans on Saturday night at Allen Event Center, bringing their season series record against the Americans to 5-3-0-0, with three more match-ups remaining between the division rivals in the regular season.
The Missouri Mavericks have already clinched a spot in the 2016 post-season, and earned home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs by winning the Brabham Cup title as the regular-season point champions.
Allen struck twice in the opening frame with goals via Chad Costello and Vincent Arseneau. The reigning Kelly Cup champions then furthered their lead 3-0 over Missouri in the second period when Casey Piero-Zabotel scored just 32 seconds back into action.
Gary Steffes then twisted the knife, giving the Americans a 4-0 lead at 2:05 of the 3rd period. The Mavericks were finally able to find their way past net-minder Jake Hildebrand while on a man-advantage at 4:21 when Sebastien Sylvestre scored his fifteenth goal of the season with the help of Zach Tolkinen and Josh Holmstrom.
Time ran out before the Mavericks could record another goal, and despite owning a 35-22 shots on goal advantage, Missouri left the ice with a 4-1 defeat.
The Missouri Mavericks face the Allen Americans again tomorrow night at 4:05pm on the road before returning home to Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on Mar. 30 for a 7:05p.m. match-up against the Quad City Mallards. Tickets for all Missouri Mavericks home games are available online at Ticketmaster.com and in-person at the arena box office.
