March 26, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Ben Lake had the game-winning goal in the second period, goaltender Lukas Hafner stopped 24 shots for his first professional win, and the Alaska Aces held off the Rapid City Rush 3-2 Friday night at the Sullivan Arena.
The Aces got off to a great start as Tommaso Traversa sniped a bar-down lazer past Rush goaltender Danny Battochio at the 11:50 mark of period 1. Tony Deluca and Lake assisted. It was Traversa's 17th goal of the season.
Alaska made it 2-0 when Peter Sivak converted a blueline Rapid City turnover into a breakaway goal at 13:24, his 19th of the season.
Rapid City pushed back with two quick goals in the second period. Ryan Misiak 1:45 and Mark Miller at 3:23 tied the game at 2.
Alaska got the game winner at 12:14 of the second period as defenseman Brandon Martell's shot from the left point hit Lake and got behind Battochio stick-side. Scott Wamsganz also assisted on Lake's 7th goal of the season.
Hafner looked good in his pro debut, making several stops that kept the Aces in the game. Battochio, after stopping 52 Alaska shots Thursday, followed that effort with 35 more Friday.
The Aces and Rush will complete their season series Saturday at 7:15pm ADT.
For tickets, stop by the Aces ticket office at 15th and Gambell Monday through Friday 9am-5pm or go online at www.alaskaaces.com.
