Colorado Eagles News Release

(Boise, ID) - Colorado scored three goals in the second period, while goaltender Kris Lazaruk stopped 30 of 32 shots he faced, as the Eagles defeated the Idaho Steelheads 4-2 on Saturday.

Colorado would net the game's first goal when forward Kyle Kraemer snared a loose puck at center ice and raced into the zone on a breakaway, snapping a wrister past Idaho goalie Branden Komm and giving the Eagles the 1-0 lead just 5:41 into the contest.

Four minutes later, the Steelheads would find themselves on a 5-on-3 powerplay and they would capitalize on the back-half of that man-advantage. Forward Emil Molin took a cross-slot pass and wired it home to tie the game 1-1 with 10:11 remaining in the period.

With the game knotted at 1-1 heading into the second period, Colorado would turn on an offensive onslaught, outshooting Idaho 21-8 in the middle frame. The Eagles would regain the lead less than two minutes into the second period when forward Trent Daavettila fielded a loose puck on the side of the net and stuffed it home to make it a 2-1 Colorado advantage.

Less than five minutes later, Idaho defenseman Tommy Fallen would light the lamp with a slapshot from the top of the circle to tie the game at 2-2 with 13:22 left in the period.

Colorado would jump back on top when forward Darryl Bootland would grab a beautiful drop pass in the low slot from Daavettila and sweep it into the net to give the Eagles 3-2 lead with 11:41 remaining in the second.

The Eagles would grow their lead to two when forward Johnny Lazo blistered a slapshot into the net just four seconds into a powerplay to make it a 4-2 Eagles lead at the 16:17 mark of the second. Colorado would carry that two-goal lead into the second intermission.

Colorado asserted themselves defensively in the third period, as goaltender Kris Lazaruk turned aside all 14 shots he faced, cementing the Eagles 4-2 victory and completing a two-game sweep of the weekend series against the Steelheads.

Colorado continues their four-game roadtrip with a visit to Tulsa to take on the Oilers at the BOK Center on Tuesday, March 29th at 6:05pm MST.

Tickets for groups of 15 or more start at just $14 per seat and can be purchased by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).
