Arnold Heading to Charlotte

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced that Derek Arnold has been loaned to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

Arnold, 26, played in 42 games for the Monarchs this season and scored 30 points on 16 goals and 14 assists. The first-year player recorded six, two-point games this season and leaves the Monarchs with the 4th highest shooting percentage amongst ECHL rookie skaters at 18.0%.

The 5-foot-8, 165-pound Foxboro, Mass. native has been loaned to the Ontario Reign (AHL) and Portland Pirates (AHL) this season, playing in 9 games between the AHL teams without recording a point. Prior to joining the Monarchs, Arnold played 151 games over four seasons at UMass-Lowell (H-East) and scored 98 points on 43 goals and 55 assists, winning a Hockey East Championship in the 2012-13 season.

The Monarchs are back in action tonight (7 p.m.), when they visit the Adirondack Thunder in an important late season Eastern Conference matchup.
