Boise, ID - Rob Linsmayer netted his first professional hat trick, but it wasn't enough for Idaho. Adrian Veideman's goal 2:35 into overtime clinched a 5-4 win for the Colorado Eagles (34-26-4) over the Steelheads (35-21-9) in front of 4,020 fans at CenturyLink Arena.

After a lengthy shift inside the Steelheads zone, Colorado forward Kyle Ostrow sent a pass from behind the Idaho net that found Veideman in the high slot. Veideman powered a wrist shot through Philippe Desrosiers to send the Steelheads to their second straight loss after regulation. The goal was Veideman's 17th of the season, his seventh game-winner, and his fourth in overtime.

Despite the loss, the Steelheads did earn a point on home ice for the eighth straight game, going 5-0-3 in that time.

Emil Molin joined Linsmayer and Jefferson Dahl on a line in Molin's first game back since being reassigned from AHL Texas on Thursday, and that unit carried the Steelheads offensive attack. Linsmayer opened the scoring at 7:41 of the first period, collecting the puck off an offensive zone faceoff win and driving to the front of the net from the corner to flip a backhander past goaltender Clarke Saunders and grab his 17th of the season and a 1-0 lead.

Kyle Kramer's 16th of the season, and fifth of the year against Idaho, sent the team's to the first intermission tied. At 3:24 of the second period, Linsmayer would dig a rebound out of a mess of bodies in front of the Colorado net and pop in his second of the night.

The Eagles answered back with two quick goals. Johnny Lazo wired a slap shot past Desrosiers off the rush from the top of the right circle for his 19th of the season, and ninth in the past 12 games, to tie the score 2-2 at 8:42 of the second. A little more than two and a half minutes later, Trent Daavettila buried a rebound off the end boards for a power play goal, his 22nd goal of the season, and Colorado's first lead.

The Steelheads answered with two quick goals of their own before the period was over. At 13:33, Molin buried a beautiful power play feed from Dahl to tie the game with his 20th goal of the season, joining Dahl as the only Steelheads to reach the 20-goal mark this season. With 1:22 left in the second period, Dahl set up another goal when he fed Linsmayer from behind the net to finish off the Linsmayer's first career hat trick and make it 4-3 Idaho.

It was Idaho's third hat trick of the season, with Carson McMillan netting the other two. Jefferson Dahl earned three assists on the evening.

The Steelheads were unable to hold the one-goal lead in the third, with Lazo deflecting in his second goal of the night on the power play after a Carson McMillan boarding penalty put Idaho a man down for five minutes. The 4-4 score would hold until Veideman's OT winner.

Linsmayer earned a prime chance for his fourth goal of the game early in overtime, only to be stopped by Saunders. Veideman won the game on the following shift.

With the overtime point, the Steelheads moved one point back of Fort Wayne for second place in the Western Conference. They also remain three points ahead of Utah in the West Division, with one game in hand.

The Steelheads and Eagles meet for a rematch Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena, with puck-drop scheduled for 7:10pm MT. The game is available on Cable One, ECHLTV, and 1350KTIK.
