Marlies Sign Jeff Cowan to AHL Contract

Dave Nonis, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced that the club has signed forward Jeff Cowan to an American Hockey League contract.

Cowan, 34, has skated in 21 games with the Marlies so far this season, tallying eight points (five goals, three assists) to go along with four penalty minutes. The 6'2, 205-pound forward has scored three of his five goals while on the man-advantage, which ranks second on the club in that category.

The veteran forward has appeared in 413 career NHL games, collecting 81 points (47 goals, 34 assists) to go along with 695 penalty minutes. The Scarborough, Ontario native played for four different teams during his NHL career, including the Calgary Flames, Atlanta Thrashers, Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks.

Toronto originally signed Cowan to a professional try out contract on December 17, 2010.

The Marlies hit the road for a matchup against the Rochester Americans on Saturday night at Blue Cross Arena.
