
Ben Bishop Recalled by St. Louis

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has recalled goaltender Ben Bishop from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. Goaltender, Jaroslav Halak, is day-to-day with an upper body injury.
To replace Bishop on the Rivermen roster, the club has signed goaltender Michael Ouzas (OO-zus) to a professional tryout contract.
Ouzas, 25, has appeared in 20 games for the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL) this season. He has compiled a record of 12-6-1 with a 2.54 goals-against average and a 0.912 save percentage. He has played in one AHL game this year, with the Houston Aeros, where he stopped 13 of 15 shots in 31 minutes of relief on Nov. 20 against Chicago. The Hamilton, ON native played 42 games with the Wranglers last season and was 17-19-4 with a 3.31 GAA and 0.896 sv%.
Bishop, 24, has started 26 games for the Rivermen this season compiling a record of 13-11-1 including a 2.59 goals against average, .913 save percentage as well as two shutouts. The, 6'7, 215-pound goaltender appeared in six games for the Blues during the 2008-09 campaign including his NHL debut on October 24, 2008 against the Los Angeles Kings. Bishop earned his first NHL win the following night as he stopped all 12 shots he faced in a combined shutout with Marek Schwarz in the Blues' 4-0 victory over the Florida Panthers. Overall, his NHL career has yielded a recorded of 1-1-1 including a 2.94 goals against average and a .893 save percentage.
A native of St. Louis, Bishop was originally drafted by the Blues in the third round, 85th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
