Marlies Begin Busy Week on Tuesday Morning with Battle Against Admirals

The Marlies kick off their four game week on Tuesday morning with a game against the Milwaukee Admirals at Ricoh Coliseum. The game will be their third School Day game of the season. Toronto finishes their week with back- to-back games against the Bulldogs.

What You Need To Know About The Toronto Marlies...

- The Marlies have posted a record of 5-2-0-1 over their past eight games. They sit just two points out of first place in the North division standings.

- Toronto's penalty killing unit has been solid through the first 60 games this season, ranking first in the AHL with an 86.6% success rate. They've allowed only seven power play goals over their past 18 games.

- The Marlies 17 road victories currently rank first in the North Division and fifth in the Western Conference. Toronto has only five more road games on their 2010-11 schedule.

- Mike Zigomanis notched his 10th goal of the season last Wednesday night in the Marlies 3-2 shootout loss. The Marlies leading scorer has potted 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) over his last 22 outings.

The Marlies went 2-1-0-1 during their four games last week. Toronto has collected points in six of their past eight games. The Marlies kicked off their week with a 6-4 win over the San Antonio Rampage on Family Day. Joe Colborne netted two goals in the win.

On Wednesday, the Marlies were edged 3-2 by the Hershey Bears in a shootout. The back-to-back Calder Cup Champs needed a five round shootout to slide past the Marlies.

Toronto bounced back on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over division rivals, the Manitoba Moose. Nazem Kadri was the game's first star, collecting a goal and an assist in the win. Jonas Gustavsson made 23 saves for his third win.

The Marlies dropped a 1-0 game against the Moose on Sunday afternoon. Bill Sweatt scored the lone goal for the Moose. It was Sweatt's third game winning goal against Toronto this season.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

The Marlies host the Milwaukee Admirals on Tuesday morning to open their four game week. The Admirals currently rank first in the West Division with a record of 33-16-3- 7 for 76 points. Linus Klasen paces the Admirals in scoring with 45 points (22 goals, 23 assists).

Toronto welcomes the W-B/Scranton Penguins into town on Friday night. The Penguins are the top team in the AHL, posting a record of 44-16-0- 0 and have won eight of their past 10 games. The Penguins beat the Marlies in their only other meeting this season, 5-1. Eric Tangradi scored a hat-trick in the win.

The Hamilton Bulldogs and Marlies face each other on Saturday and Sunday. The Marlies travel to Hamilton for the final time this season on Saturday; while Sunday's matchup at Ricoh Coliseum will be broadcast live on CBC.

Reading Report:

The Reading Royals currently rank first in the Atlantic division with a record of 34-14-2-3. Reading had their five game winning streak snapped last weekend. Matt Caruana is currently on a three game point streak (three goals, two assists).
