Wild Trades Kalus, Penner Added to Aeros Roster

HOUSTON --- Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has traded right wing Petr Kalus to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for future considerations. In addition, Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill today announced that defenseman Jeff Penner has been added to the American Hockey League team ‚¬â„¢s roster.

Kalus, 23 (6/29/87), recorded eight points (6-2=8) and 68 penalty minutes (PIM) in 34 games with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season. The 6-foot-1, 208-pound native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, played in two games with Minnesota last season. Kalus was Boston ‚¬â„¢s second-round pick (No. 39 overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and was acquired by the Wild with a fourth-round pick from the Bruins in exchange for Manny Fernandez on July 1, 2007.

Penner, 23 (4/13/87), has posted 19 points (5-14=19) and is a plus-10 in 57 games with the AHL ‚¬â„¢s Providence Bruins this season. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound defenseman from Steinbach, Manitoba, notched a career-high 35 points (7-28=35) in 68 games with Providence in the 2009-10 season. He made his NHL debut with Boston on March 9, 2010, at Toronto. Penner, originally signed by Boston as an undrafted free agent, played one season of collegiate hockey at Alaska-Fairbanks.

Penner will wear sweater No. 5 with the Aeros.
