Capitals Recall Todd Ford from Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have recalled goaltender Todd Ford from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
A 6'4", 176-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, Todd is a seven-year pro who has split this season with Hershey and the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL). Ford has posted a 6-4-1 record with a 3.04 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage in 12 games with Hershey this season. In South Carolina, Ford posted an 11-6-1 record with a 2.69 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
The 26-year-old goaltender went 7-5-1 with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage in 15 games with Portland and Texas in the AHL last season. Ford went 18-7-2 with South Carolina last season and ranked fifth in the ECHL with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Ford was selected to the First Team All-ECHL team and was voted the starting goaltender for the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game.
Ford, who wears No. 40 with Washington, was drafted in the third round, 74th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ford will be available for tonight's game versus the New York Islanders at Verizon Center.
