Marco Emond Wins Goaltender Of The Month For January

A solid month of January for Jackals goaltender Marco Emond turned into league-wide recognition this week, as the Valleyfield, PQ native was chosen as the United Hockey League's Goaltender of the Month for January 2003.

Emond posted a 7-3-0 record to go with a 2.72 GAA and .902 save percentage. He also recorded one shutout against Adirondack on 1-23, a 3-0 win in which he turned aside 28 shots. The shutout was his second of the year, and of his pro career.

The 5-10, 180 lb. backstop currently leads the UHL in shootout wins with six and saves with 1,038, and is among league leaders in wins (21), GAA (2.98), save percentage (.915), and shootout percentage (.765).

The Jackals return to action on Thursday night against the Missouri River Otters at the Coach USA Center, game time is 7 pm. The game will be Missouri's last visit to Elmira this season, and the last meeting of the regular season between the two foes as well.
