RiverBlades' left winger Jason Bermingham has been named the Sherwood ECHL Player of the Month for January.

Bermingham, 26, a native of Montreal, Quebec, scored 11 goals and 19 points in 10 games during the month, including 4 game-winning goals and 4 power-play goals. The 6-0, 195-pounder led the Blades to an 8-0-2 record, the first time in team history that the club has gone an entire month with a regulation loss.

Bermingham's month included three multiple goal games, and 7 games with at least two points. He scored a goal in seven consecutive home games from December 27th through January 24th, the longest home goal-scoring streak in the ECHL this season.

Jason becomes the second RiverBlades' player to ever win the award. Last January, it was captain Eric Long earning the honors.

Bermingham is in his third season with the RiverBlades. He led the team last year with 30 goals and 59 points, and is on pace to break those marks this season, with 26 goals and 55 points already.

The RiverBlades will try to continue their unbeaten ways in 2003 with home games tomorrow against the Mississippi Sea Wolves, and Friday against the Peoria Rivermen. Opening face-off for both games is at 7:05p.m.
