ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Today the East Coast Hockey League announced that Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies forward Jim Henkel was named the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for January.

The 6-2, 190-pound Henkel is on a 17-game point scoring streak, the longest in the league this year, with 28 points (10G, 18A) in 14 games stretching from December 18, 2002 to February 1, 2003. Selected in the eighth round (217th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Henkel earned one American Hockey League call-up this season, playing two games with the Cleveland Barons.

Henkel earned a roster spot on the 2003 Compuware/ECHL All-Star Nothern Conference team, replacing teammate Scott Matzka who was out because of injury. The former Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Tiger registered an assist in the Northern Conference's 8-2 win against the Southern Conference on January 21 in Estero, Fla.

The 2002 Kelly Cup Playoffs Northeast Division Champion Boardwalk Bullies play at Boardwalk Hall.
