Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals got a boost defensively on Tuesday with the return of defenseman Trevor Burgess to the club.

Burgess, who was a large part of last year's Eastern Conference Championship team, had been playing for the Bracknell Bees of the British IceHockey Super League (BISL). While there, the 6-0, 190 lb. defenseman collected eight assists in 25 games. The Stittsville, Ontario native scored nine goals and added 26 assists for 35 points with the club in 57 games last year. He also appeared in 14 playoff games, registering 3 assists for the team.

Playing with both Rob Guinn and Jody Robinson last night, Burgess made an immediate impact with an assist on Aaron Phillips' game winning goal at 18:52 of the second period. He skated a regular shift and also helped generate several scoring opportunities for the team. The veteran blueliner finished a solid +4 in the game.

The Jackals return to action on Thursday night against the Missouri River Otters at the Coach USA Center, game time is 7 pm. The game will be Missouri's last visit to Elmira this season, and the last meeting of the regular season between the two foes as well. Tickets are $10, $13, and $15, and may be purchased through all Ticket Master locations, online at www.TicketMaster.com, or charge by phone at (607) 722-3711. Seats may also be obtained through the Coach USA Center Box Office, open Monday through Friday, 10 am to 6 pm, and Saturdays 10 am to 4 pm.
