Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Anchorage Aces scored two power play goals in the third period and Christian Soucy posted 37 saves in a 4-3 victory over the Bakersfield Condors Tuesday at Sullivan Arena.

Yvan Corbin opened the game's scoring with his third goal in as many games and 25th of the year at 2:35, one of three Anchorage power play goals on the evening. Christian Skoryna scored twice later in the period to give Bakersfield a 2-1 edge after the first 20 minutes. Skoryna has three consecutive two-goal games against the Aces, including the two-game set played last weekend in Centennial Garden.

With the Condors on a power play to open the second period, B.J. Young swiped a cross-ice pass and beat Bakersfield goaltender Kevin St. Pierre on the ensuing breakaway at 3:02 to knot the contest 2-2. Anchorage killed all eight Condor power plays on the night and has erased 15 in a row dating to Saturday's shootout victory. Bakersfield quickly regained the lead, as Paul Rosebush finished off a two-on-one at 5:27 to nudge his team in front entering the third period.

Dave Csumrik registered the equalizer as the unlikeliest of screen-setters, Dean Larson (5-8, 160), completely obstructed St. Pierre's (6-3, 220) view on a wrist shot from the high slot that sailed home at 7:41. Three minutes later, Paul Williams buried the game-winner on yet another power play, assisted by Young and Kimbi Daniels (each of whom had three helpers) with 9:16 left on the game clock. Bakersfield (23-13-8) squandered a pair of power plays in the last two and a half minutes in losing to Anchorage for the seventh time this season by a single goal.

The Aces (12-32-2 overall) recorded their first home victory after five straight defeats since December 29 in winning consecutive games for the first time dating to December 17. The two clubs complete a stretch of four straight games against each other tomorrow night in Sullivan Arena at 7:00 p.m. All games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.anchorageaces.com or www.kfqd.com, with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
