Buffalo Bisons News Release

BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo Bisons used a five-run bottom of the fourth inning to propel themselves to a 10-7 win over the Gwinnett Stripers on Wednesday night at Sahlen Field.

Cullen Large belted a grand slam that ignited the offense for Buffalo. His homer came after the team tallied solo runs in the bottom of the first and second innings off of Gwinnett starter Freddy Tarnok. The game started after a hour and 10 minute delay due to field conditions.

Vinny Capra drove in his 25th RBI of the season to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first. His base hit tied the score after Hernan Perez belted a solo homer off of Brandon Eister in the top of the frame. Yoshi Tsutsugo's solo homer in the bottom of the second gave the Bisons a 2-1 lead and they would not trail again.

Large's grand slam was his sixth home run of the season and increased his RBI total to 47. The home run went off the roof of the right field party deck before bouncing into the parking lot. The team's third homer of the game came off the bat of Capra.

The utilityman finished the night with a pair of hits, including his two-run shot that made the score 10-2 in favor of the Herd in the bottom of the sixth. Tsutsugo added a second hit with an RBI double in the fifth frame, as well. Buffalo scored in five of the first six innings against the Stripers pitching staff.

Tayler Saucedo was credited with his first Triple-A victory of the season thanks to an inning of scoreless relief. He faced four batters in the top of the fifth inning and was one of seven pitchers to throw for Buffalo.

Matt Peacock and Foster Griffin each worked scoreless frames out of the Bisons bullpen, while Jackson Rees, Trent Thornton, and Adrian Hernandez also pitched.

Perez tried to mount a late comeback for Gwinnett, belting his second home run of the game in the top of the ninth inning. His three-run shot brought the team within three runs, but Hernandez was able to record the final out against former Bisons Tyler White. Perez finished the game 3-5 with a pair of home runs, four RBIs, and three runs scored.

The Bisons and Gwinnett will meet for the second game of the series on Thursday afternoon. Casey Lawrence is scheduled to start for Buffalo and will be opposed by fellow right hander Ian Anderson. The two teams are scheduled for a 1:05 p.m. first pitch in Downtown Buffalo.
