Lakewood Gets Rain-Shortened Win over Legends

The Lakewood BlueClaws completed a three-game series sweep over the Lexington Legends with a rain-shortened 6-0 win Wednesday in Lakewood. The game was stopped in the middle of the fifth inning.

Lakewood starter Harold Arauz (2-4) got the win. He worked all five innings, allowed three hits, struck out seven batters and walked none.

The BlueClaws scored their first run in the bottom of the second inning. Austin Bossart reached first base on a throwing error by third baseman Travis Maezes and came home on a double by Jan Hernandez.

Lakewood added five runs in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Hernandez singled and moved to third on a single by Brendon Hayden. Carlos Duran's double scored Hernandez as Hayden went to third.

Venn Biter's single brought Hayden home, and a base hit by Emmanuel Marrero scored Duran. Jiandido Tromp followed with another single, scoring Biter. A sacrifice fly by Josh Tobias delivered the game's final run.

Legends starter Scott Blewett (3-6) was the losing pitcher.

The Legends will open a four-game series in Hagerstown Thursday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
