Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - One day after being selected to the 57th Annual South Atlantic League All-Star Game, left-handed pitcher Tanner Banks has been promoted by the Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, to the Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem Dash. In a corresponding move, the Intimidators receive right-handed pitcher Dylan Barrow from Extended Spring Training.
Banks, 24, is 6-3 with a 2.87 ERA in 11 games (11 starts) with Kannapolis, including a streak of six consecutive wins to open his season. Banks currently ranks tied for the SAL lead in complete games (1) and shutouts (1), second in inning pitched (69.0), tied for third in wins, and 15th in ERA. Earlier this season, Banks was named SAL Pitcher of the Week of April 18-24 following a 9-inning complete-game shutout on April 20 at West Virginia, the first 9-inning pitching performance by an Intimidators arm since 2011.
The White Sox selected Banks in the 18th round of the June 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Utah. Last season, he was named Co-Pitcher of the Year in the Pioneer League after a stellar season with Advanced Rookie Great Falls.
Barrow, 22, is set to make his season debut with Kannapolis after opening 2016 in Extended Spring Training. The righty made his professional debut in 2015 with Advanced Rookie Great Falls, going 1-1 with a 6.29 ERA (17 ER/24.1 IP) and 24 strikeouts for the Voyagers. The White Sox selected him in the 23rd round of the June 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tampa, where he was selected to the NCAA South Regional All-Tournament Team as a senior. Barrow graduated from Durant High School in Plant City, Fla., the same school as former Intimidators starting pitcher and White Sox prospect Tyler Danish.
The Intimidators are home tonight for Game 3 of a 7-game home stand as the team wraps up a series against the Greenvill Drive (Red Sox) at 7:05 p.m. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for Weenie Wednesday with $1 hot dogs all game long courtesy of Nathan's Famous.
