Kannapolis, NC - A pitcher's duel broke out in the series finale between the Greenville Drive and Kannapolis Intimidators on Wednesday night, and the Intimidators won round three between the teams by a 3-2 score to salvage a game of the series.

With the score tied at two in the bottom of the sixth, Cody Daily drew a leadoff walk for the Intimidators (23-36) against Jake Cosart (1-1). After the next two hitters made outs, Bradley Strong laced a go-ahead triple to right field, and Kannapolis never gave back the lead.

Chris Comito improved to 1-5 for Kannapolis after allowing just three hits and two runs over six innings. Drew Hasler and Taylore Cherry combined to keep the Drive (30-28) scoreless over the final three frames, and Cherry recorded his fourth save.

The Intimidators took a 1-0 lead against Jose Almonte in the first inning when Grant Massey doubled and later scored on a bases-loaded walk by Danny Mendick.

Austin Rei put the Drive on the board in the second with an RBI groundout that scored Luis Alexander Basabe, who tripled.

A Kyle Ruchim sacrifice fly in the fourth put the Intimidators back on top, but the Drive answered right back in the fifth when Jeremy Rivera singled and later scored on a wild pitch.

Almonte received a no-decision despite giving up only two runs over five innings.

The Drive return home on Thursday night to begin a four-game series with the Augusta GreenJackets, affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. First pitch at Fluor Field is at 7:05 PM. Left-hander Dedgar Jimenez (1-0, 1.80) takes the mound in the opener for Greenville, and Augusta will start right-hander Michael Connolly (2-2, 3.21).
