(NORFOLK, VA) - The Charlotte Knights dropped the second game of a six-game series against the Norfolk Tides by a score of 9-2 from Harbor Park in Norfolk, VA on Wednesday evening.

First baseman Gavin Sheets was solid at the plate and in the field. In the first inning, his RBI single put the Knights on the scoreboard. In the sixth, his catch into the Norfolk dugout was one of the team's finest defensive plays of the year. The RBI was his team-leading 16th of the season.

Offensively, the Knights possessed leads in the first inning and again in the fourth inning. With the game tied at 1-1, second baseman Marco Hernández gave the Knights a 2-1 lead on an RBI single in the fourth. That was all the Knights would muster on Wednesday, however.

The Tides scored eight unanswered runs en route to the 9-2 victory. Norfolk scored two runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and four more in the sixth inning against the Charlotte bullpen.

Charlotte RHP Tanner Banks (2-1, 4.50) was saddled with the loss after allowing four runs on four hits over two innings. RHP Jimmy Lambert started and allowed just one run on three hits over three innings.

Chicago White Sox outfielder Adam Engel continued his major league rehab assignment and recorded two hits and scored one of the team's two runs.

The Knights will continue their six-game series from Norfolk, VA against the Norfolk Tides at 12:05 p.m. on Thursday. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and CharlotteKnights.com.
