
Knights Fall to Redbirds 9-2 on Saturday

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped game five of the six-game series against the Memphis Redbirds by a score of 9-2 on Saturday night from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.
RHP Jonathan Cannon (0-1, 4.61) made the start for the Knights, his first since being optioned to Charlotte from the Chicago White Sox. Cannon allowed four runs on three hits over four innings and was charged with the game-five loss. He walked four and struck out four on the night.
Memphis designated hitter Luken Baker had a big day at the plate for the Redbirds in the win. Baker launched a two-run home run in the fifth inning, his sixth of the season. He finished the game 2-for-3 with the home run and a game-high five RBI. Catcher Nick Raposo chipped in with two hits and three RBI for the Redbirds.
Offensively for the Knights, right fielder Oscar Colás had an RBI double to pace the offense. Designated hitter Carlos Pérez drove home Charlotte's other run on an RBI groundout. Both runs were scored in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Memphis starter Michael McGreevy (2-3, 4.62) earned the win. He allowed just two runs over six strong innings.
The Knights will conclude the six-game home series against the Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals) on Sunday afternoon with a 1:05 p.m. game at Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte, NC.
