Buffalo Bisons News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Buffalo Bisons once again slugged their way to a victory with five home runs, including three solo homers, in their 9-3 victory against the Indianapolis Indians on Saturday night at Victory Field.
The first of two lead off home runs would come in the top of the third inning off of Indianapolis starter Brady Feigl after the home team opened up a 2-0 lead through two innings. Luis De Los Santos delivered Buffalo's first run of the night with his second homer of the season to trim the deficit to 2-1.
The Bisons would tie the game in the top of the fourth when Rafael Lantigua took Feigl deep to right field for his first home run of the 2024 season. It tied the game 2-2. Buffalo's go-ahead run was scored after a lead off hit batter in the top of the fifth frame scored on a fielder's choice. Leo Jimenez was hit by a pitch and scored after Steward Berroa grounded a ball to the right side of the infield. Liover Peguero tried to get Came Eden at second base, but his throw hit the runner, giving Buffalo a 3-2 lead.
The first of two home runs in the top of the sixth inning was hit by Payton Henry with two on and no out. Orelvis Martinez was hit by a pitch and was followed up by a Damiano Palmegiani walk putting a pair on without any outs for Henry's third homer of the season to open up a 6-2 lead for the Bisons. The home run extended Henry's hitting streak to eight straight games.
A Berroa two-run home run scoring Jimenez ballooned Buffalo's advantage to 8-2 in the sixth. Indianapolis would get one run back in the bottom of the inning to trim the deficit to 8-3. However, that is as close as the Indians would get.
Spencer Horwitz's first hit of the night was a solo home run to right field to cap the scoring at 9-3 in favor of the Bisons.
The Buffalo bullpen was efficient in what was a bullpen game on Saturday night. Troy Watson pitched the first three innings, giving up two runs on four hits but did not receive a decision. Paxton Schultz was credited with his first win of the year with 3.2 innings of relief. Connor Cooke and Hagen Danner combined for the final 2.1 innings of scoreless relief as well.
The Bisons and Indianapolis will conclude their six-game series on Sunday afternoon at Victory Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
