Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Kyle Tyler's six scoreless innings and Troy Johnston's eight-inning blast propelled the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to a tight 2-1 victory over the Indianapolis Indians Tuesday night at 121 Financial Ballpark.
After seven scoreless frames and Jacksonville (29-35) ahead 1-0, Indianapolis (26-36) broke through in the eighth. Andrés Alvarez led off with a walk. A bunt single from Joshua Palacios coupled with a throwing error advanced Alvarez to third. With runners at the corners, Liover Peguero hit a sac fly, scoring Alvarez from third evening the game at one.
Jacksonville (29-35) regained the lead for the final time in the bottom of the eighth. Johnston (3) crushed a solo home run with two outs off Indians reliever Brady Feigl (L, 6-2).
Anthony Maldonado (W, 4-2) spun 1.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, securing the win.
Griffin Conine continued his hot hitting in the bottom of the second inning. With one out, Conine (14) walloped a solo home run off Indians hurler Daulton Jefferies (L, 1-2), his fifth home run in as many gamedays.
Jacksonville and Indianapolis continue their series Wednesday with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. The Jumbo Shrimp will hand the ball to RHP Yonny Chirinos (5-4, 3.25 ERA) and the Indians will counter with RHP Domingo Germán (0-3, 7.97 ERA).
