Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Gladiators goaltender Jeff Jakaitis in addition to head coach John Wroblewski have been named to the 2011-12 All-ECHL First Team.

Jakaitis has earned a 17-6-2 record in 26 games this season with Gwinnett. The netminder set a new Gladiators team record for most shutouts in one season by a goaltender with five on the year. He currently ranks second among ECHL netminders with a 2.03 goals against average and shares first with a .930 save percentage.

The Rochester, Minnesota native was twice named the ECHL Goaltender of the Week (Dec. 12-18 & Dec. 26 - Jan. 1) and earned ECHL Goaltender of the Month honors in December.

In his first season in Gwinnett, Wroblewski has guided the Gladiators to the team's second regular season Division Championship in nine seasons. With two games remaining in the regular season, Wroblewski has guided the Gladiators to a 41-18-7-4 record and 93 points. The current total of 93 points matches the second best record in team history posted in the 2007-08 season.

Wroblewski earned his first professional coaching win in the Gladiators 2-1 shootout win over the Florida Everblades. He led the Gladiators to the organizations first playoff appearance since 2009.

Other members of the All-ECHL First team include Alaska's Bryan Miller, Colorado's Aaron Schneekloth & Chad Costello, Elmira's Dustin Gazley and Las Vegas' Eric Lampe. Wroblewski is joined on the bench by the Aces Rob Murray.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
